Turning eighteen years old is a good reason for any professional who works in the musical/art scene to celebrate. However, playing Heavy Metal in Brazil and achieving this goal is something that few bands have already got. Pursuing the same steps and facing the same obstacles that the pioneers of the Rio de Janeiro scene after Rock In Rio first edition in 1985, especially the legendary band Dorsal Atlântica, Hicsos started their activities in 1990.

Currently featuring Marco Anvito (bass and vocals), Antonio Saba and Nilmon Filho (guitars) and Marcello Ledd (drums), the band is fully focused on the promo tour of their second CD, "Technologic Pain" (2007). The album, recorded at Mr. Som studios in São Paulo, presents the production of Marcello Pompeu and Heros Trench, two experts in Metal sound and members of the influential band Korzus.

The sound performed by the quartet has been built based on references such as Slayer, Anthrax, S.O.D., Napalm Death, Testament, Agnostic Front and Biohazard. Mixing up Thrash Metal with Hardcore, now with more intensity than the first album, the band has been getting a good response from the media. To release their full sound potency and aggression, Hicsos talks about religion, politics, human personality conflicts and daily issues on their lyrics.

Being active and on the stage is part of the personality of this band from Rio de Janeiro, which throughout their career played along great names of Brazilian and worldwide Metal scene, such as: D.R.I., Mercyful Fate, Exodus, Anthrax, Destruction, Napalm Death, Obituary, Dying Fetus and Korzus. The gigs present a big interaction and the audience has already elected some of the most recent songs as “Face to Face", "Technologic Pain" and "Pátria Amada" among their favorite ones.

Two official albums in eighteen years seem to be too little, but Hicsos have been struggling with their own power since the first recording, the Demo-Tape "The Face of the Abyss", released in 1991. Up to their debut-album, "Eatin' Concrete" (2004), they released two more Demos, "Suicide Illusion" (1995) and "Hicsos" (CD-Demo, 1999). If it depends on the will of Marco Anvito, Antonio Saba, Nilmon Filho and Marcello Ledd this story will be written for many years.
